A Note to Potential Adopters
 |
| 7 year old golden boy, Tanner & his
forever family |
If the only dog for whom you can find a place in your heart is a 2- to
3-year old female, nicely housebroken and trained, please stop
for a moment and think about the spirit of rescue. The majority
of rescue dogs don't fit that description. Often they are older.
Some need training. Many are males. They all need a second chance. They
need someone who is willing to give them the opportunity to learn to live
in family.
Adoption Information:
If you'd like to apply to adopt a Golden from us, please remember
that our first and only concern is the welfare, safety, and happiness
of the Golden. We take very seriously the responsibility of
finding a loving "forever" home
for the Goldens in our care. We do not adopt on a first come
first serve basis; rather, we strive to match the best possible
home for each dog. Even after you are approved to adopt a Golden, there
may be a wait for the right dog. Please be patient.
Keystone Golden Retriever Rescue
does not have a shelter. No one
can come and look at our dogs. You MUST print and mail an application
to the address provided. We will not accept adoption applications that
are emailed. Additionally, we will not talk about dogs we have in
foster care until we have received an application, processed
it and approved it.
Some Additional Adoption requirements:
- Keystone Golden Retriever Rescue rarely places dogs with
families who have children under 8 years of age.
- Every Golden adopted from KGRR must be a housedog, where the dog will
live inside the home and be a companion.
- Dogs cannot be adopted to be given away as gifts.
- Every prospective adopter must complete and submit an adoption application.
All family members must be aware of and want a Golden in the family. All
adult members of the household must sign the application. This includes “significant
others” or elderly parents living in the household.
- The adopted Golden must be taken to a veterinarian within one month
for an introductory appointment and to transfer medical records.
- The Golden must be kept current on shots and other necessary veterinary
care for its lifetime.
- The Golden must be licensed according to state and local laws and ordinances.
License tag and ID tags must be kept on the dog's collar.
- The Golden is not to be transported in any open vehicle, such as the
bed of a truck, unless in a secured crate.
- Keystone rescue will follow up with adopters shortly after adoption
to check on everything. Periodically we will continue to check in.
Adoption fees:
- Puppies and dogs through three years of age: $250.00
- Dogs four to eight years: $225.00
- Dogs nine and over: $125.00
Since we rely on donations, contributions, and fundraising, you may donate
more than stated amount. This would be greatly appreciated.
***Please note: Keystone Golden Retriever Rescue will not accept
adoption applications that are emailed. All applications must be mailed
to the address provided.
If
you agree to all of the above, please fill out the
adoption
application.
